Three ways to explore each letter.

  1. Look and name. Point to the large uppercase and lowercase letter. Name the pictured object and notice its first written letter. Color the outlines.
  2. Find and match. Color the target letter in the grid, then connect each uppercase letter to its lowercase partner. Letters may look different in other books or handwriting.
  3. Try it yourself. Use the space to write the pair or make your own marks. This sheet does not prescribe a handwriting stroke order.

The word pictures support naming and recognition of written initial letters. This is not a phonics sequence: an initial letter does not always represent the same spoken sound, as in “xylophone.”

Color choices and free writing have no single correct answer. These worksheets show one printed font; handwriting and other fonts can use different letter forms.

These are original letter-recognition and counting activities, with vector outlines and diagrams. They are separate from our illustrated coloring-page collection. They are creative practice resources, not a tested curriculum or a promise about an individual learner’s progress. An adult can read instructions aloud, count or name letters together, and adapt the activity.
