A broad playful page
Bubbles give the dragon something gentle to do. Big body regions leave room for a main color and a few invented markings.
Dragon blows bubbles ↗A dragon family
A parent and hatchling make a pair with different scales of detail. Repeat a small accent to connect them.
Dragon meets a hatchling ↗A detailed imagined place
Crystals add narrow facets around the dragon. Choose a limited set of crystal colors so the creature stays visible.
Dragon's crystal cave ↗Give scales and wings different treatments.
Try a smooth wing color beside a lightly patterned body. Where scales are drawn, repeat two colors in short groups; where the body is open, add a few markings on paper rather than covering every space.
A bright dragon can sit against a quiet cave, or a pale dragon can stand out against richer surroundings. For a glowing crystal effect on paper, leave a light edge and build darker color toward one side. The online studio fills the existing enclosed areas.
Try a small project
Choose a dragon and one of its imagined homes. Use the same accent color in the dragon’s markings and a doorway, crystal or lantern.
